Personal Wedding Stories
Chris & Renee
On the 1st of June 2006 my life took a turn in a more positive direction.
It was a date. A very special one. I was filled with excitement and nerves as I prepared myself for a 6pm coffee meet. Due to our phone conversations and email correspondence, I felt that I had an initial insight into Chris Dunnicliff. My gut feeling was positive and I was really looking forward to meeting him in person. As I turned the ignition key to head off to the ‘Coffee Club’ in Milton Road, I prayed for good things and a positive outcome. God answered my prayers and the date went well!!!
Over the weeks following, we developed a beautiful friendship and starting dating.
The relationship train followed, and we soon found ourselves buying a house together on the Gold Coast. We were in love.
In July 2008, Chris proposed in my home town, Yamba, right on the beach with a beautifully laid out picnic with all my favourite treats!! It was gorgeously romantic and so sweet! Soon after, we found ourselves toying with the idea of moving to WA for work. Workwise - the Gold Coast just wasn't rolling in our favour and during the Anzac Day ceremony Chris turned and said to me "would you move to WA"? oh. I don't know. I didn't want to leave my family and friends. But there was something inside of me that said otherwise - something that said to me "its your time now Renee, time for your own family and married life. These things will always be here, but your future is not these people or things. Its time to step forward, embrace your own life, and move on". So I listened to that voice and I am VERY glad I did. WA has been such a positive step forward for us in so masy different areas.
In September this year we eloped to the beautiful Monkey Mia and got married!!! We were so very blessed to have found a fantastic photographer who travelled up from Perth to photograph us during the ceremony and much more. Adam Keegan from 'Scene The Light' was so enthusiastic and passionate about getting the best shots for us on the day and it was evident in the photos - they turned out SO awesome!! It was hard to choose just two for enlargements (to go on our walls) as there were just so many great ones. Our day was intimate and romantic and we feel that Adam captured all the emotions we were feeling throughout the afternoon.
Although our travels have taken us to many places in Australia, Monkey Mia and our wedding will be one of the most treasured memories that will take with us through this life and into the next. It was everything we wanted and we will always remember that day when we look at our beautiful photos.
We do believe Ecclesiastes 3 vs 1-8.... there IS a time for everything. And now I see, that the voice that spoke to me on the Gold Coast about moving on was right - this is OUR time. And now is the time for our own lives and family :-)
